My 7 year old daughter was diagnosed with pneumonia on her birthday last year, and after a week in the hospital we were told that she must be transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital to have her chest drained as there was fluid around her lung. I have never felt more anxious or helpless in my life to watch my child in so much pain. Upon arriving at Great Ormond Street Hospital, we met Dr. Ema Kavaliunaite, and she made us feel calm and relaxed instantly. She was always very honest, caring, and considerate of all of us. She was available when we needed her, and it was obvious that she is very knowledgable in her field. I honestly feel that we could not have had better care anywhere else. My daughter has follow-up visits after discharge, and Dr. Kavaliunaite makes us comfortable enough to call her and arrange appointments as and when needed if my daughter was not feeling well. She answer all my questions very well, and always puts my anxiety to rest. Although my daughter's condition was an extreme case, she is well and healthy now and I am forever grateful to the care I received at Great Ormond Street and particularly from Dr. Kavaliunaite.

We feel incredibly lucky to have had Dr Ema take such great care of our son. Ema is very communicative and was always clear and honest with us from the time our son was admitted to critical care to the out - patient check ups. She is clearly a very knowledgeable consultant and was very thorough in her investigations with regards our son which brought us great comfort in a very uncertain period. In addition to being a great medical professional, what really stood out for us is Dr Ema's warmth and compassion. She regularly asked about our welfare and how we and our other children were coping during our baby's hospitalisation. We have never felt that we were a case that needed to be closed, Dr Ema has made herself and her colleagues available to us to investigate all anomolies with our sons test results. Thank you Dr. Ema for supporting us and our son, you've been amazing.

Our son was diagnosed with Down’s syndrome at birth. The next day he was diagnosed with a rare type of transitory leukaemia and the following week he developed pneumonia. As would be expected, our world was flipped upside down and our anxiety was through the roof. We were referred to Ema for respiratory care due to his low oxygen and pneumonia. She has been absolutely fantastic. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable in her field, she is calm, caring and holistic. She looks at our child as a whole and cares about his overall health and development. After hearing my fears about treating him locally for any future respiratory problems, Ema has repeatedly expressed that she is available to us and to oversee his care. Having a doctor you trust in a time of need is priceless. When we see her, I feel she has time for us. She asks questions, listens carefully, and consults in a calm manner, explaining everything in enough detail. It is obvious she’s committed to the quality of her care and the well-being of her patients. I would highly recommend her without reservation.
